What about counseling/therapy services?
While hypnosis can help many, it’s not for everyone. John also provides counseling and psychotherapy services with a client centered approach, while utilizing Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients change unproductive beliefs and behaviors. CBT can also be a brief therapy, but not always.
How long is your average client in therapy?
This depends on the individual history and circumstances. I should have an idea of the length of treatment after the 2nd to 3rd session. Empty habits such as smoking and nail-biting can usually achieve results in 2-3 sessions. Sports improvement can be achieved in 2-3 sessions; however, some individuals achieve better results with ongoing sessions. Persons hoping to change eating behaviors and lose weight should expect to see me for 1-6 months depending on their goals and history. Again, each persons experience is unique to them. Sometimes we’ll initially meet weekly, and bi-weekly after the first couple of sessions.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is gathering information about the presenting problem and gathering some history. Hypnosis is not appropriate for everyone and in order to approach your problem responsibly I need to know some history. In order to individualize your treatment and CD to your unique experience, I need to speak with you in depth about your problem. Often I’ll do an introduction to the trance experience in the first session but not always.
Do you accept health insurance?
Unfortunately, I am not a provider at this time for any insurance companies. However, my reason for choosing this career is to help individuals regardless of socioeconomic status or means. For this reason I will charge based on a sliding scale for those that show limited income. I will also help to petition your insurance company to pay for your therapy.
