Experience
John has been providing counseling and psychotherapy since 1999. He has provided services in a variety of settings with not-for profit agencies and in private practice throughout New York State. John provided supportive counseling and psychotherapy, at sites including Hutchins psychiatric center, Syracuse, NY; Northeast Career Planning, Albany NY; Daytop Village, Rhinebeck, NY, and the Mental Health Association of Columbia Greene Counties, Hudson, NY. He has provided services in the Fields of Substance Abuse rehabilitation, and with the persistently and chronically mentally ill.

Education
John received his bachelor's in psychology from Syracuse University where he graduated with Honors, completing a Senior Thesis while assisting Dr. Barbara Fiese and Dr. Stephen Maisto with family systems and substance abuse research. He obtained his masters in counseling from SUNY Albany, where he participated in a 2 year supervised internship funded by the State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services providing counseling to adolescents in treatment for substance abuse.

Affiliations
He is a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor, and licensed by the State of New York as a Mental Health counselor. He is a member in good standing with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the NYS Mental Health Counselor's Assocation. He has been in part-time private practice since 9/2006. From 2002 until 2008 he was employed at MHA of Columbia Greene Counties providing supportive counseling and psychotherapy to Adults with Mental Illness. He now operates a full time private practice helping individuals with a variety of problems with the use of hypnosis and other therapies. He receives ongoing training and consultation with experts from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
